Forbidden Planet International is offering the Alias omnibus at a very special pre-order price of just £45.00 – that’s a saving of 40% off the £75 RRP!

But you have to get there fast – that price ends this Wednesday 14th May 2014.

As previously reported, the reprint, written by Brian Michael Bendis with art by Michael Gaydos, is released in September, and centres around Jessica Jones, superhero-turned-detective. She’s now best-known for marrying Luke Cage and featuring in the Avengers books. But she also grew up in High School with one Peter Parker. You may know the name…

Alias Interior Art

I expect the price to go up to about £50.25 once the promotion is over.

Oh, and this might not be one for younger fans: there’s a lot of swearing and some sexual references too. Nonetheless, Alias is a much-loved series by one of Marvel’s biggest writers!

Check out FP.co.uk for that price.

Jim Starlin and George Perez’s epic Infinity Gauntlet is to be released in omnibus form on 2nd July 2014.

The 1,248-page book collects together all the issues of The Thanos Quest, Silver SurferCloak & Dagger, and Quasar that lead up to the main event, as well as the titular six issue series, tie-ins (including The Incredible Hulk and Spider-Man), plus two issues that deal with the aftermath – though bizarrely seems to exclude Warlock and the Infinity Watch. Here’s the official synopsis:

Death has released Thanos from her cold embrace, and he plans to repay her by murdering half the universe! But even as the Mad Titan gathers the six Infinity Gems from across the galaxy, assembling them into the Infinity Gauntlet and gaining truly godlike powers, a host of heroes gather to oppose him — including the Silver Surfer, Adam Warlock, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, Dr. Strange and the Hulk! Even with Dr. Doom, Galactus and the universe’s cosmic powers aiding them, can Marvel’s mightiest possibly prevail against Thanos the all-powerful? At the moment, Forbidden Planet International has the best price, at £63.65 (though, no guarantees, there might be a further special offer available from their newsletters sometime in the future), with ForbiddenPlanet.com not far behind with a price of £65.55.

With an RRP of £95.00, Amazon UK hasn’t discounted it at all yet (their prices are particularly odd at the time of writing), and Amazon US has it listed for $96.11, a 23% saving of the American RRP of $125.00.

Neither Amazon UK nor ForbiddenPlanet.com have listed it yet. Head over to Forbidden Planet International to pre-order it now.

Squadron Supreme @ Sale Price

I’ve just spotted Mark Gruenwald’s Squadron Supreme Omnibus for just £29.99.

The HC is part of Forbidden Planet.com’s sale, bringing the Alex Ross cover down to just under £30, a good discount off the £55.99 RRP.

The Beginning

The 456-page book, which was released in October 2010, is even cheaper than its Amazon UK price of £35.83 and Forbidden Planet International’s £37.51. FP.com’s sale price, however, only includes the Ross cover; the other Bob Hall-illustrated cover resides at £38.63. Here’s the blurb:

“Hyperion! Power Princess! Dr. Spectrum! The Whizzer! Nighthawk!

What happens when the greatest heroes of an alternate world institute the Utopia Project, vowing to abolish war and crime, to eliminate poverty and hunger, and to cure death itself! Can they possibly succeed? And when do heroes stop being heroes? Mark Gruenwald explores the ethics of heroism in his best-known story. Guest-starring Captain America and featuring the end of a world at the hands of the Scarlet Centurion!

Collecting Squadron Supreme (1985) #1-12, Captain America (1968) #314 and Squadron Supreme: Death Of A Universe.”

“Solve Everything”: 40% Off Hickman’s FF!

Get 40% off Jonathan Hickman’s Fantastic Four Omnibus Volume 1 when you pre-order before Wednesday 1st May!

Hickman's FF

The 736-page book is due out in October 2013, priced £55.99 – but if you go to ForbiddenPlanet.co.uk now, you can get 40% off that RRP, bringing it down to just £33.59.

The newly-announced omnibus collects together the first part of Hickman’s critically-acclaimed run that includes the ground-breaking Three storyline – in which a lead member of the Fantastic Four dies! – and launches the new FF series (that’s the Future Foundation). Here’s the full synopsis:

Superstar writer Jonathan Hickman revamps and redefines Marvel’s First Family in a sweeping and epic saga across time, space and reality! And it all begins when Mr. Fantastic decides to solve everything! As the team contends with Norman Osborn’s Dark Reign, an older Franklin arrives from the future with an ominous warning! And as the Fantastic Four fight the War of the Four Cities, Mr. Fantastic assembles a band of genius youngsters.

But when Nathaniel Richards returns, Galactus rises and a new Annihilation Wave threatens to invade from the Negative Zone, tragedy suddenly strikes. Grieving, the surviving members of the Fantastic Four dissolve the team — but from its ashes rises the Future Foundation! Guest-starring Spider-Man, Dr. Doom, Sub-Mariner and the Inhumans!

Collects Dark Reign: Fantastic Four #1-5, Fantastic Four #570-588, FF #1-5 and material from Dark Reign: The Cabal #1; written by Jonathan Hickman; pencilled by Sean Chen, Dale Eaglesham, Neil Edwards, Steve Epting, Nick Dragotta and Barry Kitson, with cover artwork by Alan Davis.

I expect fp.co.uk’s price to increase to about £38 after this promotion, and anyone who wants to explore the team that kick-started the Marvel Universe is well-advised to pick the book.

Hickman's FF 2

I particularly like this run as one of its titles quotes my favourite band, The Killers: ‘When Everything’s Lost, the Battle is Won… Because of All These Things I’ve Done.’

Pre-order before Wednesday 1st May 2013 here.

(Thanks to Rubèn.)

“Looking Forward”: 40% Off Iron Man!

Until Wednesday 4th April 2013, you can pre-order the upcoming Iron Man By Kurt Busiek and Sean Chen Omnibus at a 40% discount, bringing its RRP of £95 down to £57.

Iron Man Omnibus

The 1024-page book is released in September, and, whilst primarily by Busiek, is also written by Mark Waid (Fantastic Four; Daredevil), Dan Jurgens (Thor) and Chris Claremont (X-Men), amongst many others.

Chen is obviously on art duties (as well as providing the cover), but joining him are John Romita Jr. (The Amazing Spider-Man; Avengers), Salvador Larroca (Cable and X-Force; X-Treme X-Men), and Terry Shoemaker (X-Factor; Excalibur).

Here’s the official synopsis:

“It’s a new beginning for Iron Man as Kurt Busiek and Sean Chen reinvent the Armored Avenger! Tony Stark is back, with a new company, Stark Solutions — but the Mandarin plans to destroy Tony’s dreams before they take shape! And if that’s not enough, Iron Man must face Firebrand, Whiplash, M.O.D.O.K., Controller, Fin Fang Foom, Count Nefaria, the Exemplars, Ultimo and the new War Machine — while romancing the beautiful Rumiko Fujikawa and protecting his secret identity! Good thing he’s got Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four and the Avengers to help him out!”

As he comes face-to-face with the Mandarin, the omnibus will be released soon after Iron Man 3 hits cinema screens worldwide.

Iron Man 3 movie

Iron Man by Busiek and Chen Omnibus collects Iron Man (1998) #1-25, Captain America (1998) #8, Quicksilver #10, Avengers (1998) #7, Iron Man & Captain America Annual 1998, Fantastic Four (1998) #15, Iron Man Annual 1999, Thor (1998) #17, Peter Parker: Spider-Man (1999) #11, Juggernaut: The Eighth Day and Iron Man: The Iron Age #1-2.

The series ran from 1998 to 2004, an 89-issue run that led up to Avengers: Disassembled. So if this one sells well (and I think it will), then we can probably expect at least one further volume in the future!

Iron Man 3

If you want to pre-order at a 40% discount, go to Forbidden Planet International before 4th April. I expect the price will rise to between £60 and £65 after the special offer.

“Old Man Logan”: 40% Off Wolverine!

You’ve got until tomorrow to pre-order the Wolverine By Mark Millar omnibus at a discounted price of £33.59.

Wolverine Omnibus

The 576-page book is due for release in July 2013, and features the ever-popular Enemy of the State and Old Man Logan storylines, written by Millar (The Ultimates; Kick-Ass), with art by John Romita Jr. (The Amazing Spider-man; Black Panther) and Steve McNiven (Superior; Guardians of the Galaxy).

Simply get over to Forbidden Planet International, and receive the omnibus at a 40% discount from its RRP of £55.99.

After this event, I expect the website to have the omnibus for sale at about £38.00.

In other Wolverine-related news…

Adamantium Collection

• There will be a special Adamantium Collection, which is set to combine some fan-favourite stories featuring Wolverine (though not, I might add, tales included in the Mark Millar omnibus). It’s set to hit shelves in June, just before the film, The Wolverine, will be shown at cinemas worldwide. You can read more about it here. I’ll be taking a closer look at this release soon.

The Adamantium Collection is currently for sale from Forbidden Planet International for £100.50. Obviously this is a massive price for an over-sized book, but it’s still a 33% discount of its UK RRP of £150.00.

• Amazon UK, meanwhile, just about undercut FPInternational with the Wolverine By Jason Aaron omnibus available for £48.00.

• Hearing how a plethora of X-Men stars will be reunited in the next movie, Days of Future Past is massively exciting. James McAvoy! Michael Fassbender! Hugh Jackman! Patrick Stewart! Sir Ian McKellan! Ellen Page! Anna Paquin! Jennifer Lawrence! Plus: Sentinels! This is bound to be incredible, right?!

News Round-up: January 2013, featuring Thor, Wolverine – and Rare Omnibuses!

A second Mighty Thor omnibus is due for release in August, carrying on from where the first volume left off.

Thor Omnibus

Many thanks to Rubèn, who found this in the Marvel May to August Preview.

Thor Omnibus blurb

The first omnibus, released in January 2011, collected together Journey Into Mystery #83-120 and Annual #1; this second will continue from Journey Into Mystery #121, relaying the foundations of Thor, Loki, the Warriors Three and the rest of Asgard to readers before the release of the movie sequel, Thor: The Dark World, due out in October in the UK.

The Wolverine is also set to hit cinema screens this year (in July, to be precise), and to coincide, Marvel will release Wolverine by Mark Millar Omnibus, which I will personally be lapping up. With art by John Romita Jr (Thor; X-Men), Steve McNiven (Captain America; The Amazing Spider-man) and Kaare Andrews (Spider-man: Reign; Incredible Hulk), the 576-page book will include the popular Enemy of the State and Old Man Logan storylines. Here’s the official blurb:

He’s the best there is at what he does. And when writer Mark Millar (The Ultimates; Kick-Ass) gets his hands on Wolverine, what he does isn’t very pretty! When the Hand brainwashes Wolverine, he slices and dices his way through friends and foes alike — carving a swath of terror through the Marvel Universe that ultimately results in an X-Man’s death! Finally captured and deprogrammed, Wolverine swears vengeance against his tormentors — and the vengeance of Wolverine is a wonder to behold. Then: Nobody knows what happened the night the heroes fell, but the villains have been calling the shots ever since. Wolverine’s fate is the biggest mystery of all. No one has heard from him for fifty years, and in his place stands an old man called Logan.

Collecting Wolverine (2003) #20- 32, #66- 72 and Wolverine: Old Man Logan Giant-Size #1.

Wolverine Omnibus

With an RRP of $75, expect to pay about £50 when it’s released in July.

And finally… Amazon UK has an influx of older omnibus titles back on sale. The Incredible Hulk Volume 1, collecting Hulk #1-6, Tales to Astonish #59-101, and Incredible Hulk #102, is priced £63.75. Though they’re temporarily out-of-stock, they’re taking orders for The X-Men Omnibus Volume 1 (again, £63.75) and Brubaker’s Captain America Volume 1, for sale at just £47.59. The Avengers Omnibus, meanwhile, is just £48.

X-Men Omnibus

Get over there quickly – I’m sure they’ll sell out pretty fast!
