2006, amazon co uk, amazon uk, cyclops, doctor who, e is for extinction, emma frost, ethan van sciver, frank quitely, genosha, grant morrison, jean grey, leinil francis yu, magneto, marc silvestri, marvel boy, new x-men, phoenix, x-men, xavier, xorn
It’s the news that so many have waited for:
Grant Morrison’s run on New X-Men will be reprinted as an omnibus later this year.
The previous HC came out in December 2006, and is long-since out-of-print.
Art by Marc Silvestri.
You can, however, get it from one of Amazon’s third parties – for £863.72! While this might be waaaay too expensive – who’s really going to pay that?! – you can find second-hand copies for about £150; still a huge amount.
If you’ve paid an insane price for the book though, I’m sure you’ll be kicking yourself!
The reprint will RRP at £79.95 – very weird; I would’ve guessed about £95 – but Amazon has it for just £60.47. No other company – ie. Forbidden Planet – has it listed yet. The book is due for release in August, so there’s plenty of time to get in your orders.
From New X-Men #147
I’d guess that fp.co.uk will have a good pre-order price coming up though (maybe around £50), so it might be worth waiting a while.
It’s interesting to note that the previous omnibus housed an incredible 1096 pages… and the reprint includes even more material, weighing in at a gigantic 1120 pages!
This is expected to include Grant Morrion’s entire run, alongside such artists as Frank Quitely, Ethan Van Sciver, Marc Silvestri and Leinil Francis Yu. It’s a bit worrying, however, that Amazon have listed fewer artists on the reprint than the original – let’s hope this is just an accident; not that some issues will be excuded.
Morrison (who has also worked on Doctor Who Magazine, Marvel Boy and Batman) came to the title with a startling new vision for the X-Men, and has the audacity to kill off sixteen million mutants – in his first storyline!
The omnibus is expected to contain the following critically-acclaimed storylines:
E is for Extinction;
The Man from Room X;
Riot at Xavier’s;
Murder at the Mansion;
Assault on Weapon Plus;
Here Comes Tomorrow.
The run has left quite a legacy for the mutant team, including secondary mutations, the introduction of Emma Frost as a member of the X-Men and huuuge developments between Scott Summers and Jean Grey. The Weapon Plus facility and Fantomex has recently been explored further in Rick Remender’s Uncanny X-Force (which is one of the best comics on the shelves today), while Quentin Quire reappears in Wolverine and the X-Men: Alpha & Omega.

Could this usher in an era of reprints? Let’s start a petition!
If so, I’ll keep my fingers crossed for Daredevil By Frank Miller Volume 1…!

Personally, I think Apocalypse is one of the best characters in the MU, and if you’re a like-minded individual, you’ll want to get over to forbiddenplanet.co.uk to pre-order the upcoming Age of Apocalypse Omnibus.
Enter the AoA!
The 1072-page hardcover collects Uncanny X-Men #320-321, X-Men #40-41, Cable #20, X-Men Alpha, Amazing X-Men #1-4, Astonishing X-Men #1-4, Factor X #1-4, Gambit & The X-Ternals #1-4, Generation Next #1-4, Weapon X #1-4, X-Calibre #1-4, X-Man #1-4, X-Men Omega, Age Of Apocalypse: The Chosen and X-Men Ashcan #2.
The massive book encompasses the entire MU, and sees the death of Charles Xavier and the victory of Apocalypse. What more could anybody ask for?! Well, how about a wealth of incredible creators, like Mark Waid, Scott Lobdell, Steve Epting and Salvador Larroca?
Cover B by Joe Maduriera.
Until 7th SEPTEMBER 2011 – Yes, tomorrow – you can get 40% off, bringing the price down to £57, if you visit:
With an RRP of £95, its certainly worth pre-ordering now to avoid paying more upon its release in February 2012. The discount is for Cover B, by Joe Madureira, while Billy Tan’s Cover A is available for £63.65; I expect the price of Cover B to increase to this when the offer ends. Cover A looks to be that of X-Men Alpha, re-coloured for two of the TPB editions of the 1995-96 mutant epic.
These aforementioned four trade paperbacks were issued between 2005 and 2006, and can be found for about £15 each on the web. To get the whole story would cost you £60; so this omnibus is definitely worth it! Oddly, it apparently omits two issues that were included in May’s Prelude to Age of Apocalypse TPB (http://www.forbiddenplanet.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_music_info&products_id=63534); very strange indeed! Can anybody give us a hint as to why those two are missing from the omnibus? Or will this change nearer publication date?
Cover A by Billy Tan.
Amazon.co.uk doesn’t have the omnibus listed yet, while forbiddenplanet.com has the Tan cover for £64.85. So it’s definitely advisable to get to fp.co.uk as fast as possible.
The omnibus comes at a particularly good time, with the excellent Uncanny X-Force series focussing on many elements from the story. First of all, X-Force went face-to-face with Apocalypse (…sort of) and his horsemen in The Apocalypse Solution… Then, most recently, they journeyed into the actual Age of Apocalypse!

Come back soon for Spider-man, the Avengers… and the War Lord of Mars!

10th, 1990, 2011, 2012, 40%, 4th, about, apocalypse, august, background, bargain, bishop, buyer, chris, claremont, cockrum, comics, coming, comparison, creator, cyclops, dates, dave, deal, forbidden, ghost rider, grant, information, issue, january, jim, kirby, lee, magneto, marvel, mojo, morrison, mutants, nightcrawler, nineties, numbers, offer, omega, omnibus, page, pay, planet, price, red, release, shadow king, skrulls, soon, stan, storm, two, volume, wednesday, wolverine, x-factor, x-men
Recoloured art by Jim Lee
Chris Claremont and Jim Lee’s exceptional collaboration on Marvel’s #1 mutant team continues in January 2012’s omnibus, which sets the X-Men up against Skrulls, The Shadow King and – of course – Magneto. The X-Men By Claremont and Lee Omnibus Volume Two also sees X-Factor take on Apocalypse, Wolverine versus Omega Red, the return of Mojo, the loss of Cyclop’s son, and time-travelling chaos with Bishop.

The pair’s award-winning run brought the X-Men into the 1990s with a bang. With a massive 880 pages, collecting Uncanny X-Men#273- 280, X-Factor #63- 70, Ghost Rider #26- 27, and X-Men #1- 9 – plus material from #10 and 11 – this release will be a must for fans of mutantkind.
Uncanny X-Men #280
If you’re not a member of Friends Of Humanity, you’ll want to get over to forbiddenplanet.co.uk before Wednesday 10th August to save 40% off the RRP of £95, bringing the cost down to £57! They list the expected delivery date as 4th January, so perhaps something to spend that money you get for Christmas on…
While the Omnibus is available with two different covers – both by Jim Lee – only the one based on Uncanny X-Men #275 is on offer for £57 from fp.co.uk. It’s a great design, but anyone searching for the other, more Wolverine-centric one can get it from fp.co.uk for £63.65, which is also the same price as the previous Claremont/Lee X-Men omnibus. Following the current promotion, the Volume Two omnibus will probably go for this price as well.
The Recoloured X-Men!
Amazon.co.uk, meanwhile, have both omnibuses for the pre-order price of £71.25 each (which is kinda rubbish, really!), and forbiddenplanet.com have Volumes One and Two – all covers – for £64.85 each.
Other X-Omnibuses include The X-Men Volume One and Two, which collects the earliest tales of the team, the long-OOP New X-Men with stories by Grant Morrison, and the formation of the second team – including Wolverine, Storm and Nightcrawler – in Uncanny X-Men By Claremont and Cockrum. Yep, the X-Men have a history of going out-of-print…

2011, 40%, adams, angel, april, bargain, beast, cassaday, collected, cyclops, deal, edition, hardcover, havok, iceman, john, marvel girl, neal, offer, polaris, release, roy, sunfire, thomas, two, volume, x-men
All X-Men fans will want to get straight to Forbiddenplanet.co.uk before Wednesday 10th November!
A direct follow-on from Volume One, The X-Men Omnibus Volume Two collects X-Men #32 – 66, Avengers #66, Ka-Zar #2 – 3, Marvel Tales #30 and Not Brand Echh #4 and #8, in 912 pages of homo superior goodness. The HC collects stories featuring the original X-team; Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Beast, Angel, Iceman and introducing Havok, Polaris and Sunfire! But with an RRP of £75.00, some prospective buyers might be put off.
But never fear…
There are some fantastic offers out there, but the best is definitely a massive 40% off at Forbiddenplanet.co.uk, bringing the price down to just £45.00. But be quick – the offer ends 10th November.
This is just for the standard edition; the variant – with cover by John Cassaday – will remain at £50.25 for now. The standard edition will probably return to this price too, once this initial 40% off pre-order deal has reached its deadline.
Amazon.co.uk has the same omnibus on pre-order for £56.25, while Forbiddenplanet.com has it for £51.74. Elsewhere, the best price on the ‘net is from whsmith.co.uk at £46.50; highly recommended for anyone who’s missed that 40% off bargain.
The omnibus is released in April 2011.
